This is a small town, very very busy, totally dependent upon agriculture.This town does not hold any big industry.However ,recently an university (Bir Kunwar singh)is functional.Few small plants are also coming up eg INDANE gas power plant. The town has only three cinema hall in the name of entertainmaint.This has a stadium but came into existance only reducing the size of old Ramna Maidan. The old red colour Court of Ara is worth to be seen. Ara due to its poullation has been qualified to be a muncipal corporation .Development work in this regard is yet to be started.Earlier it was the HQ of SAHABAD District.Now it has been divided into four district such as BHABHUA,SASARAM,BUXAR and BHOJPUR. For Health,Ara inherited a big district hospital and a group of large no. of qualified doctors who practice in the town with all the average clinical facilities. Many colleges such as Jain college.Jagjivan college ,Maharaja college,Mahila college and many other good schools are already in the town imparting education to the students who are contributing in the nation building for years. This town has given so many ministers to the nation whose contribution can not be forgotten.They are Babu Jagjivan Ram,Dr Ram subhag singh. As pilgrimage ,this is the place of Jain tithankars as the city has many old Jain temples. Bir kunwar singh ji is a well known name of freedom fighters.
